How to Make a Shirt Pillow

Make your own shirt pillow

I found a Boston Red Sox shirt and I wanted to make it into a pillow cover. This is a simple and easy DIY to add just a little something extra to a room. I need to get working on my sons Boston Red Sox room I have so many things to do to make it just right. This pillow was one of the things we needed to add.

Here are the steps I took to turn it into a shirt pillow cover. You can do it the simple way or add a little to it to make it a little more special. It’s up to you on the extra steps you want to make. I have made some suggestions on what other things you can do like adding a pocket or making it a zip off cover.

Turning your shirt into a pillow cover

Filling in the neck hole for the shirt pillow

You will need to fill in the neck hole first. Take a piece of fabric and pin it to the inside of the shirt hole. I used white t-shirt fabric for the hole.  Once you have it pinned sew it to the inside of the shirt hole.

Sew the sleeves shut

I sewed the sleeves shut from the right side up. Pinch the edges of the shirt together and sew it. Now you could also cut off the sleeves and sew it shut that way. I like the look of keeping it like a shirt for a pillow. You could go a step further and add a zipper and create a pocket.

Sew or add a zipper to the bottom of shirt

Put the pillow inside the shirt and sewed the bottom shut. You could also add a zipper to the bottom of the shirt to make it a removable cover. I love the look of this shirt pillow it adds just that little extra thing to the room.
